JH Robotics has vast experience in the palletizing arena. We have done systems where we utilize FANUC Robots to palletize / depalletize using standard or custom designed dunnage and pallets.
Our experience includes bag and carton stacking on pallets utilizing standard bag and/or conventional end effectors with specialized grippers suited for the product. In some cases custom end effectors have been designed and manufactured to accommodate the needs of the various products.
We have additional experience with dunnage, where a fork truck brings unfinished parts in trays on wooden or carrier pallets into the system. The FANUC Robot will individually unload product from each layer of dunnage and remove the empty dunnage trays to an exit system to be reused for the finished product. This may or may not utilize vision to unload / load the product or dunnage. In some cases the vision can be utilized not just for the unload portion but also for properly placing and orienting the product into the next step of the automation system.
Wooden or custom pallets have been used with layers of trays containing the parts. Cardboard or equivalent sheathing can be placed between each layer of parts. This type of system generally requires shrink wrap at the end of the process.
In our own manufacturing / production division we manufacture parts, wash, air-dry, and place them directly into their shipping pallets. These pallets are then packed for shipping to the customer. In some cases the pallets are used from machine to machine to be picked by another FANUC robot for placement into the next machining process. This results in a major labor savings and avoids large capital expenditures.
